Acid Tests
All the 4th grade rooms smell like vinegar and have beautiful calcite crystals in them! You can test any rock you find for calcite, just pour some vinegar on it and look for bubbles! If your test is inconclusive ask your student what to do next. Next week we will be studying granite. Keep those rock collections coming, we love them.

cool! I did that with you and it was fun, but next time I'll use hydrochloric acid.
